Pea (Fabaceae) family.

Plant: Shrub, unarmed, gland-dotted. Leaves: generally compound, alternate, odd-1-pinnate; stipules bristle-like, ephemeral; main axis without prickle-like glands; leaflet midrib often ending as a short bristle, gland-tipped or not. INFLORESCENCE: raceme, terminal, spike-like, generally clustered. Flowers: petal 1 (banner); sepals generally 5, fused; stamens 10, exserted, filaments fused near bases; pistil 1, ovary superior, generally 1-chambered, style puberulent, stigma 1. Fruit: legume, indehiscent; Seed 1, generally hard, smooth. Misc: Along streams, canyons; < 1200 m.
