Wildflowers of Southern Arizona
Arizona Wrightwort.
Carlowrightia arizonica.
Acanthus (Acanthaceae) family.
The flowers are 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide and have 2 stamens, 2 lateral petal lobes, 2 upper lobes that are fused together, and a keeled bottom lobe. There is a yellow spot with purple streaks on the upper petal lobe. The leaves are green, simple, opposite, and lance-shaped.
