Wildflowers of Southern Arizona
San Felipe Dogweed.
Adenophyllum porophylloides
Aster (Asteraceae) family.
The flower heads are 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) wide and 1 inch (2.5 cm) long with 0 to 12 ray flowers. The bracts are dotted with dark red glands. The leaves are green, opposite below, alternate above, deeply divided into 3 main linear lobes, and embedded with foul-smelling oil glands at the base and tip of the lobes.
